Care Instructions

Your handcrafted board is made from high-quality hardwood and finished with a food-safe blend of mineral oil and beeswax. With proper care, it will last for many years — developing a richer color and natural patina over time.

Below are simple, reliable care steps to keep your board beautiful and functional.

Cleaning Your Board

- Wash by hand with warm water and mild dish soap

- Wipe clean with a soft sponge or cloth

- Rinse and dry immediately with a towel

- Always store standing upright to allow air flow

DO NOT:

- Soak your board

- Put it in the dishwasher

- Let it sit in standing water

Oiling & Conditioning

Wood naturally dries out over time. To keep your board moisturized and protected:

- Oil your board:

- Once a month for regular use

- Anytime the wood looks dry or dull

- After heavy washing or cutting juicy foods

Use:

- Food-grade mineral oil, or

- A board conditioner made from mineral oil + beeswax

How to apply:

1. Wipe a thin layer of oil over the entire surface

2. Let sit for 10–20 minutes

3. Wipe off excess

4. Repeat as needed

Disinfecting Your Board

For deeper cleaning:

- Sprinkle coarse salt or baking soda

- Scrub with a cut lemon

- Rinse and dry well

- Apply oil if the board looks dry afterward

Handling Stains & Smells

- Rub with baking soda

- Wipe with white vinegar

- Let the board air dry thoroughly

- Re-oil as needed

Cutting Different Foods

- Use one side for produce

- Use the other side for meat

- Clean thoroughly after raw proteins

- Never store a wet board against a wall or countertop

Long-Term Care Tips

- Keep away from heat sources

- Store in a cool, dry area

- Recondition regularly

- Avoid serrated knives that scar the board
